For Account Owners

Accessing Ugift Codes

Each of your ISave 529 beneficiaries are given a unique six-digit gifting code, which can be used by family and friends to make direct contributions to the student’s account. Here’s how to locate yours:

Using the READYSAVE 529 App

1. Log in to your account using the READYSAVE 529 mobile app.
2. Click the Ugift icon in the bottom right corner.
3. Locate the correct beneficiary’s account and click Share invitation.
4. From the pop-up menu, choose who you would like to send the code to and how (text message, email or social media).
5. The individual will receive a link unique to the chosen beneficiary. From this link, they can contribute directly to the account.

Using Your Online ISave 529 Account

1. Log in to your account at www.ISave529.com.
2. Click Share Ugift code and view history of gifts in the right menu.
3. Locate the correct beneficiary’s account, which will have the Ugift code below their name.
4. Share the Ugift code via social media, email or print a Ugift contribution slip.

Tax Deductions

To qualify for the Iowa state tax deduction, you must be listed as the ISave 529 account owner. While anyone can make a gift to an account, only the account owner is eligible to claim the tax deduction for contributions.

Multiple Accounts for a Single Student

Multiple account owners can open separate ISave 529 accounts for the same beneficiary. For example, if both Parent A and Parent B opens an ISave 529 account for their three children, they would have two accounts in each child’s name, one owned by each parent. In this case, the household would have a total of six accounts (three per parent).

 

For Gift Givers

If the owner of the ISave 529 account sent you a link, click on it to be taken to the student’s personal gift page. From here, you can make a contribution by simply indicating the amount and putting in your banking information.
